Legacy Comix is proud to announce that US HWY 27, Written and Lettered by Zachary Hernandez and Illustrated by Sapphire Valentine, will be available this Fall as a digital exclusive and is now available for pre-order.
“We want to entice fresh young talent to join the stable and Zach is a great find,” Legacy Comix Editor-In-Chief Patrick Hickey Jr. said. “This is a special book for us and we’re excited for it.”
His comic book debut, Hernandez is excited to join the Legacy team.
“Signing with Legacy feels so surreal to me. I never imagined that a cup of coffee would turn into a contract,” series creator Zachary Hernandez said. “Being able to not only kickstart a career that I’ve been dreaming of since I was a little kid, but to also be able to learn so much about comics and how to make them.”
An eight-page ashcan, the story is an important one for Hernandez as well.
“I’ve always wanted to tell a story about Florida and its beauty but also some the trauma and demons that most of its people have to deal with on a daily basis. Growing up in a close proximity to military bases, I’ve seen how service can affect people not only in their relationships but personally as well. This is a topic that has always interested me and is not nearly talked about enough in media, especially in comics,” he said. “Also, this topic is very interesting, because it is a great way to be able to highlight other mental illness such as addiction and grief which have always hit home to me. I hope that this story can not only point out these topics in mental health, but also help people heal. ”
